Star Island is packed with historic charm, ocean views, and iconic New England scenery. Here is everything you need to know about what to do, see, and eat during your visit:🚶 Things to Do & Walking Tours Explore on Your Own (Free): Walk the rugged coastline, visit the historic Gosport Village replica, check out the Caswell Cemetery, and view the John Smith Monument. The Stone Chapel (Free): Walk up to the highest point of the island to visit the historic stone chapel, famous for its candlelight services. The Oceanic Hotel Porch (Free): Relax on the iconic, wide hotel porch lined with wooden rocking chairs and take in the harbor views.🍔 Food & Drink Options The Oceanic Dining Hall (~$15): Enjoy a traditional, family-style lunch inside the historic hotel. Note: Advanced reservations are required by calling (603) 601-0832. The Island Grill & Snack Bar (A la Carte): Perfect for a quick bite. Grab a hot dog, burger, ice cream, or the island’s famous signature raspberry lime rickey. Cancellation Policy
Safety Requirements Children under 12 must wear a USCG‑approved life jacket at all times while on board. (We provide properly sized life jackets for all passengers.) The captain reserves the right to require any passenger to wear a life jacket if conditions or behavior warrant it. All passengers must follow captain and crew instructions at all times for their safety. Arrival & Departure Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled departure time. If you arrive late, your trip will be shortened to keep the schedule on track. (Full trip length cannot be guaranteed if you are late.) Cancellation Policy Full refund if canceled within 24 hours of booking. After 24 hours, cancellations may be rescheduled at the captain’s discretion. Outside of 24 hours, you can reschedule yourself using the link in your email. Pick any open date. Can’t make that one either? Change it again. No stress. Weather cancellations are made by the captain only. If the captain cancels due to unsafe conditions, you will receive a full refund or free reschedule. Conduct & Restrictions No drugs of any kind are permitted on board. Alcohol is allowed in moderation. Unsafe or disruptive behavior may result in early return to dock with no refund. The captain may end a trip early if passenger behavior creates a safety risk. Parking Free parking is available on Route 103 near the launch area. (We’ll provide exact directions in your confirmation email.) Fishing & Activities Fishing, sightseeing, photography, and lobster trap hauling are available depending on the charter type. All fishing is conducted under the captain’s license and in accordance with Maine state regulations. Weather & Sea Conditions The captain has full authority to modify, shorten, or cancel a trip based on weather or sea conditions. Safety always comes first. Liability Passengers participate at their own risk. York Beach Charters is not responsible for loss or damage to personal items (phones, cameras, wallets, etc.).
